On Thursday morning, fifteen minutes before the start of my BNI meeting, Jimi ran out the front door to chase cars. Bad idea. But the result was not as bad as it could have been.
I didn’t see what happened because the silver SUV that hit him blocked my view of the impact. When the SUV was past (and away, without stopping), Jimi was sitting on the other side of the road holding his paw up.
I am so, so, so, so lucky. He sustained a bad cut on his right foreleg and some road rash on his chin. After very compassionate and quick care from Dr. Joe Kelly and his assistants at Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital, he was home by 5:30 that same evening, with stitches and a purple bandage.
My week was already crazy from the work we have going on at our house. We’re getting new windows and siding from Ganser Construction, Inc. Every day three to five guys are in an out of my house, which is also my workplace, cutting holes in the walls and having me move my office from one room to another room to another room, etc.
Oh, did I mention it rained all week? Yeah, that too. I’m glad the week is over.
But mostly, I’m really glad Jimi is ok. I won’t let him out off-leash again.
