I spent the day polishing and assembling bridal shower invitations for my niece Sara.

I found the project completely enjoyable. Love the images I put together, love the typography, love the colors.

Also, I love the stage where all the design decisions are made and the printing is done and all I have to do is cut and assemble. Making things with my hands is therapeutic. Deciding how each little element should like up with the edge of the page and its fellows is more nerve-wracking and I’m always happy to have it behind me.

The shower is in October. I wanted colors and images that spoke of fall, but weren’t too halloweeny. So, yay poppy!

The Paper Source has a colorway called poppy (pretty close to the color of Dreamsicle treats) that suited my vision of the shower invitations perfectly. Poppy is beautiful tint of orange, just a little whitened, not too vivid.

I printed the invitations as cards on Luxe fino white card stock, also from The Paper Source. This paper has a little bit of texture and a warm white hue. I also made coordinating envelope liners.

I’m going to make favor boxes and thank-you notes to coordinate, so I’ll show the project’s full monty later. Until now, just this sneak preview.
